Instructional Materials: Pushes and Pulls (DW)
*Special Instructions: Discuss the dilemma with the class. Ensure the students understand the characteristics of both paths.
MA LS (96 version): Position and Motion of Objects: Experience and describe how an object’s motion can be changed through the action of a push or pull on the object.
MA LS (01 version): K-2 Physical Science: Demonstrate that the way to change the motion of an object is to apply a force (give it a push or a pull). The greater the force, the greater the change in the motion of the object.
BPS LS: The motion of an object is effected by gravity and friction

*The teacher should encourage students to elaborate, give more than the minimum, and strive for a Level 4.

A student response correctly giving the minimum number of responses or details is a Level 3.

In order to achieve a Level 4, a student must go above and beyond what is asked. For example, the student gives more than the required minimum or makes additional connections.
