Teacher’s Page

Grade: Three
Topic: Plants and Animals
Instructional Materials: Life Cycles (DW)
*Special Instructions: None
MA LS (96 version): Inquiry: Observe and describe familiar objects and events, identifying details, similarities and differences.

Life Science: Demonstrate an understanding that plants and animals go through predictable life cycles. These life cycles differ from species to species, but all include growth, development, reproduction and death

MA LS (01 version): Grade 3 – 5 Life Science: Recognize that plants and animals go through predictable life cycles that include birth, growth, development reproduction and death. Describe the major stages that characterize the life cycle of the frog and butterfly as they go through metamorphosis.
BPS LS: A life cycle is the ordered stages that occur in a plant’s or animal’s lifetime.
Technology Connection:

*The teacher should encourage students to elaborate, give more than the minimum, and strive for a Level 4.

A student response correctly giving the minimum number of responses or details is a Level 3.

In order to achieve a Level 4, a student must go above and beyond what is asked. For example, the student gives more than the required minimum or makes additional connections.
